On July 28th. 2021 Sino-German legal Cooperation Programm der Deutschen Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH, the German Federal Ministry of finance and the Budgetary Affairs Commission of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress (NPC) conducted an online workshop in Beijing und Berlin on “Financial and economic measures in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic”. Representatives of the Budgetary Affairs Commission of the Standing Committee of the NPC, managers and officials from the Ministry of Finance of the PR. China and representatives of the Budget Department of the Federal Ministry of Finance from Germany attended the workshop.
Dr. Marco Haase, director of the Sino-German Legal Cooperation Program, welcomed all participants from China and Germany. The workshop was opened by Mr. He Chengjun, Head of the Budgetary Examination Department of the Budgetary Affairs Commission of the Standing Committee of the NPC and Mrs. Corinna Westermann, Head of the Budgetary department of German Federal Ministry of Finance.
The following presentations gave an overview of the financial measures in Germany and China since the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic.
In addition, the participants dealt with the question of how the government assistance provided can be adapted and sensibly terminated in the future in order to support citizens as well as possible and at the same time avoid a wave of insolvencies of small and medium enterprises.
The following question and discussion session particularly focused on the measures taken by the federal government to support the federal states and municipal authorities and the planning of the federal budget for the coming year 2022.
