From the 09th until the 13th of December 2024, the Sino-German Legal Cooperation Program and the National Judges College in Beijing jointly organized a training course on judicial methodology in criminal law. Around 100 Chinese judges from all over the country participated and were introduced to the German methodology on the application of law. Under the guidance of Dr. Marco Haase and Mr. Norbert Feige from the Sino-German Legal Cooperation Program, the participants practiced the application of the subsumption techniques on practical cases under Chinese criminal law. For the first time, the course program also included a case from the field of environmental criminal law. The training was supplemented by questions on criminal procedure law and a presentation on sentencing in Germany.
In cooperation with the National Judges College, the Sino-German Legal Cooperation Program organizes several courses on judicial methodology a year. The aim of these courses is to promote a uniform, predictable, and rule-of-law-based application of the law by the Chinese judiciary, thereby improving both the legality of judicial decisions and legal certainty for citizens.
