From 1988 to 1994 studies of law and philosophy at the Universities of Berlin (Freie Universität), Grenoble, Freiburg (Breisgau) and Edinburgh. 1993 First state exam; 1994 Master of Science in philosophy at Edinburgh University; 1997 to 1999 legal apprenticeship at the Higher Regional Court of Berlin; 2002 doctorate degree in law at Humboldt University Berlin; 2001 to 2006 lawyer in Berlin and London in the field of corporate law; 2003 to 2006 adjunct professor at Freie Universität Berlin and at Humboldt University Berlin for sociology und philosophy. 2006/7 research project at Maison des sciences de l’homme (Paris) on the term ‘representation’; 2007 to 2015 deputy director of the Chinese-German Institute for Law (CDIR) at China University of Political Science and Law (CUPL) in Beijing; since 2011 visiting professor at CDIR; since July 2015 Deputy Programme Director of the Sino-German Legal Cooperation Programme of the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH, Beijing; since October 2019 Programme Director of the Sino-German Legal Cooperation Programme of the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH, Beijing.
