As part of the German-Chinese exchange of judges, the second Online Alumni Salon 2020 took place on 22 September 2020. Seven judges from the Justice of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia, Labour Court of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia, Higher Administrative Court, Regional Court of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia and two judges each from the Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, Gansu province and Tianjin city took part. All thirteen participants had taken part in previous exchange visits. This meeting deepened the existing partnership.

At the beginning of the exchange, Mr Dirk Wedel, State Secretary of the Ministry of Justice of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia, and Ms YU Xiaoyu, Deputy Director General of the International Cooperation Department of the Supreme People’s Court of the PRC, welcomed the participants and thanked them for their willingness to take time for the exchange during the Corona crisis. Moderated by Mr. Norbert Feige from GIZ, the participants from both sides exchanged views on the impact of the pandemic in the judiciary as well as the legal measures to mitigate the consequences of the pandemic in China and Germany. In addition, the new Chinese Civil Code was presented, in which German judges are very interested.
